Toys for Tots

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Beginning Monday, November 26 and continuing through Tuesday, December 11, WWLP-22News is partnering with AAA Pioneer Valley and Sleepy’s to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.  

Viewers are invited to stop by our 22News Studios in Chicopee to drop off a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots.  The WWLP lobby will be open for toy donation weekdays from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.   AAA Pioneer Valley and participating local Sleepy’s stores are also collecting toys for the campaign during their normal business hours.

WWLP President and General Manager Bill Pepin said, “For nearly 20 years, 22News has been proud to support the Toys for Tots efforts in this area.  We know many families in western Massachusetts are struggling just to feed their families, never mind buy toys or gifts.  Together, we can all work to ensure a brighter holiday for so many children in need.”

Locally, the Marine Corps’ effort is coordinated by the Marines of Machine Gun Platoon Anti-Terrorism Battalion stationed out of Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee.  The toys collected locally are distributed in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden counties.  Over 100,000 toys are distributed within western Massachusetts annually.
