LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) - Catching swans is not as easy as you might think.
The normally graceful birds can be a bit feisty.
City employees in Lakeland, Florida are finding that out first-hand as they work to round up the city's signature swans for their yearly check up.
The city houses the birds overnight to give them time to calm down.
The next day they're given full health check ups.
"Check weight, make sure they're eating properly. We'll also, they'll get their inoculation, their shots, their annual shots, because of the water some will have rot issues so we'll check their feet," explains Kevin Cook.
After the swans get a clean bill of health, city workers will release them back into the wild, at least until next year.
