WWLP - Things really have to get bad to lure the Archangel Michael down to earth, and believe me, catastrophes don't get any worse than the crummy horror film "Legion." It seems humanity has fallen out of God's good graces and Michael's the voice of doom. He decides to deliver the bad news to a truck stop in New Mexico.

Paul Bettany, whose usually much more choosey about his roles, hardly earns his wings as the fallen Angel. And what's Dennis Quaid doing in such trash?

No wonder he's so upset in a scene that suggests extras from "Night of the Living Dead" are moping around waiting for instructions. Will Michael and hostile Angel Gabriel settle their differences before "Legion" has you climbing the walls out of sheer disgust?

Films of this low caliber are legion. The cheaply conceived scare fare gives you an occasional jolt, If you're lucky enough not to have seen it all before in its more than 250 variations. Without mincing words, "Legion" scrapes the bottom of the barrel with one star. People ask me, can you give less than one star? Believe me, I'm looking into it.
