(WWLP) - Colin Farrell faces a serious identity crisis in the Sci-Fi action adventure, "Total Recall", where the futuristic effects clash with the primitive screenplay. It's possible in the world of tomorrow for a bland guy to assume a more heroic identity, through implanted memories at a place call "Recall".
He's been warned that they mess with your mind. But we won't forget that "Total Recall" suffers from Farrell lacking Arnold Schwarzenegger's mischievous charisma from the 1990 original.
Farrell's determined to add some adventurous muscle to his memory bank. And why has Farrell's seemingly loving wife Kate Beckinsale decided to beat the living daylights out of him? He's got enough problems with his own alternate reality.
If only "Total Recall's" spotty storyline was a match for the eye candy visuals, this re-make might have been really something to get excited about.
And of course there's always the snarling villain in the guise of an egotistical politician to get on everyone's nerves.
If I could figure out the more murky portions of the plot, the picture would have been less confusing and more enjoyable.
Just remember, "Total Recall" has only limited resources with 2 stars. I had "Total Recall" remembering how much more I enjoyed the original starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
