HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Your Doctor's office is on high alert during this flu season emergency.

Dr. Ana Roca of Holyoke Associates in Internal Medicine told 22News that at least for the next few weeks, patients with flu symptoms will be kept away from other patients to prevent the viral infection from spreading.

“We try to isolate them and try not to have them have contact each other to patients,” Roca said.

Jenny Jusino of Holyoke told 22News that she's fighting the flu right now. She has got all the classic symptoms, which so many other sufferers have during this emergency.

“I started with my asthma, asthma, fever, my throat, my ears,” Jusino said.

Yet Jusino never thought she would come down with the flu this winter; she had taken all the required precautions.

“Because I thought I wouldn't get this, having a flu shot. I had a flu shot in October,” she said.

Yes it's true some people have developed flu like symptoms in spite of getting their flu shots, but Dr. Roca still advises getting one if you haven't already. In order to prevent yourself from getting sick, you should also always wash your hands thoroughly and frequently.
