SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - We're in the midst of the holiday season, and if you're like many others, you may feel like you've put on a few pounds.
Dr. John Romanelli of Baystate Medical Center says that it's common for people to put their diets and workouts on hold this time of year, because you get busy shopping and going to parties. But he also says it's important to set realistic goals when it comes time to lose those holiday pounds.
"I tell people, a pound a week. If you're losing a pound a week, you're doing something right,” Romanelli said.
“Crash diets are as unhealthy as the weight gain, so trying to lose ten pounds in two weeks is a bad health decision. Trying to lose ten pounds in two months is an excellent health decision."
The doctor added that people find weight loss frustrating when they set goals that are lofty and not achievable.
