Oh Boy! Hospital has 19 arrivals, all boys

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KARE) - The birth of a baby is an exciting time.

Will it be a boy or a girl?

At one Minneapolis hospital this weekend, the answer was the same, over and over again.

"Sometimes it seems like it comes in waves, but not usually that many in a row," says Dr. Samantha Hoffman at University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview.

The story starts about 5 p.m. on Friday when a little boy was born and then another, and then another. They just kept coming.

"I actually delivered baby 18 and we realized that the number had been pretty high and we went out and found that it had been 18 babies," says Dr. Hoffman.

Then they added one more for good measure, 19 baby boys in all, 363 inches of little guys, 115 pounds worth. It wasn't until 7:30 a.m. on Monday that the streak came to an end.
