SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - 94.7 WMAS Radiothon for Baystate Children’s Hospital is in its second day, and already, it has brought in record amounts of money for the region’s only general hospital devoted exclusively to the care of children.
For the last two days, Chris Kellogg of the Kellogg Krew Morning Show on 94.7 WMAS has been taking calls and sharing stories of children and families who have been helped by the staff at BCH.
“Things are going really, really well. Yesterday, we had a record-breaking day; so many donations from so many people who really want to support a great local cause.”
100% of the donations made during the Radiothon go to the Children’s Miracle Network , which puts the money to use exclusively at Baystate Children’s Hospital. Kellogg explained that money raised by the CMN has brought about improvements that brighten the hospital environment for the children, such as the new playdeck, new toys for the children, and brightly-colored walls across the hospital.
“There’s 61 kids who spent the night in the hospital, so if you could imagine kids waking up in a strange place, seeing strange people, doctors and nurses coming in from time to time, it can really be a scary thing. Well, the Children’s Miracle Network really makes it less scary for kids,” Kellogg said.
If you want to make a donation, there are three different ways you can do it:
By phone, you cam pledge an amount by calling (413) 794-1111
You can make an automatic $10 donation by texting “ Baystate” to 50555
You can donate online by going to their website at baystatehealth.org/radiothon
The 94.7 WMAS Radiothon continues into Saturday.
