TURNERS FALLS, Mass. (WWLP) - If you're over 50, you might want to think about getting a vaccine for the Shingles virus.
Rite Aid in Turners Falls held a shingles clinic.
Only someone who's had chicken pox, or was vaccinated for chicken pox, can develop this awful condition.
Shingles is a nasty painful rash that can last a couple of weeks, but the pain can last for months.
"It really is the pain that is the worst part of it. There's no rash there any more it's right on your nerves. It really can be very debilitating pain and it's quite expensive to treat that after the fact", says Turners Falls Rite Aid Pharmacy Manager Stacie Richardson.
How much the vaccine costs depends on your insurance and your co-pay.
Richardson says it is covered in full by Medicare Part D plans.
