CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - November 15th marked national America Recycles Day.

To promote recycling, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has started a new campaign to reduce wasteful disposing of clothing and textile products.

Recycling is more than sorting before you throw away, but perhaps finding a reuse for used materials or finding someone else who needs them.

You may be surprised just how much of what we use can be recycled.

"Today, most everything in the household is recyclable. Everything from your everyday kitchen trash that you generate, either the paper, the plastics, those are totally recycable,” said Paul Dzubek, Director of the Department of Public Works for the Town of Ludlow.

Even many recyclable products that end up in the trash end up recycled, but it's much easier if you do the sorting yourself.

To check what you can put in the recycling bins outside your home, check with your local recycling vendor.
