About the WAMDA 5K Run/Walk:

March 2nd marks the 20th annual 5k Road Race and Health Fair held by the Western Area Massachusetts Dietetic Association, presented this year by Baystate Health.

The race is open to runners or walkers who want to participate in a fun and healthy community event.

The course is fast and fairly flat through beautiful Look Park in Northampton and has been certified by USA Track & Field (the National Governing Body for track and field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States). The race starts and ends at The Garden House where the Health Fair will be held.

The Health Fair will feature: UMASS Kinesiology department performing fitness assessments; a registered dietician and chef preparing nutritious smoothies pre-race, and vegetarian quinoa burgers post race; and a massage therapist giving chair massages.

You can register at racewire dot com or find out more information at FoodBankWMA.org

This is the second year in a row that proceeds from the event will solely benefit The Food Bank. We're proud to partner with an association like WAMDA.  Part of our work is not just to ensure the distribution of food to families in need, but also to provide them with nutrition education, tips on how to cook healthy and family-friendly meals, and how to shop on a budget.
