About Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover:

On April 6, 2009, Sirdeaner Walker found her 11-year-old son, Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover, hanging by an extension cord on the second floor of her Springfield, MA home. Carl was an outgoing sixth-grade student and had been taunted and threatened by classmates for weeks before his death. He was an excellent student athlete and was active in numerous extracurricular activities. He was enrolled in the Quest Program at Elms College, the WEB Dubois Saturday Academy, and was a member of Boy Scout Troop #35. Carl embodied the true spirit of Boy Scout - always willing to help and always willing to serve. He also played football for 5A Raiders and was a member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center Basketball Team. A member of Celestial Praise Church of God, Carl participated in many church recitals and programs.
