SHELBURNE FALLS, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - Are you ready for a new year full of fresh, new energy? Jen Heilman, owner of Clesson Brook Designs in Shelburne Falls joined us with Feng Shui tips for the New Year.
Feng Shui means wind and water. When you think of a warm summer breeze or a meandering stream it evokes a sense of calm.
Feng Shui is all about taking a closer look at our homes and really seeing how we are living and what we are surrounding ourselves with. We all understand that good nutrition leads to better health, Feng Shui is good nutrition for your home. If you feed your body with sugar and junk, you feel sluggish because your energy level has dropped. It's the same with your home, if you fill it with junk and clutter the energy of your home gets blocked and it works against you and the things you are trying to accomplish in your life.
Feng Shui is an ancient design concept that creates positive and nurturing living environments. These positive living environments empower us to achieve our goals and live happy, contented lives.
It has been practiced in Asia and around the world for thousands of years. (and no you don't need Buddha statues or Bonsai Trees to get the full effect!) Feng Shui creates a feeling of balance and harmony with color, lighting, furniture placement, art, and the presence of natural elements. Many people innately set up there living spaces using the principles of Feng Shui because "it just feels right". But more often than not, people need guidance to receive the benefits of Feng Shui, and that is where I come in. The name Feng Shui may be unusual, but the concept is simple.
