CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - If you know how to correctly do first-aid techniques like CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver, you can be the life-saving difference in an emergency situation. American Heart Association CPR Instructor and paramedic from National Ambulance, David Spafford, tells us more.
Spafford tells us that there is a new guideline for saving lives called the Chain of Survival . This process is a four step plan that people can follow in times of an emergency:
Chain of Survival
1) Early Access
2) Early CPR
3) Early Defibrillatio n
4) Early Advanced Care
There is also a new type of CPR for adults that is making the technique easier and is helping save more lives. This version of CPR is Hands-Only CPR and is only meant to be used on adults. Spafford shows us the proper technique for this tactic as well as the Heimlich Maneuver.
And for more information on first-aid facts and health information you can visit The American Heart Association or the National Ambulance .
