Doctors Express vs. Emergency Room

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - There are times when you get hurt or sick and your primary care physician is not available or can’t see you right away, so you ask yourself what you should do or where should you go, knowing that the emergency room is going to be crowded.

Well, starting September 23, you can visit Doctors Express located at 415 Cooley Street (corner of Allen Street and Cooley Street in the Stop & Shop Plaza), Springfield, MA.

Rick Crews, President of Doctors Express in Springfield give us some information about has the new facility and some of the services they provide including a full service, urgent care walk-in medical center. They also have full digital x-ray, lab work, and pretty much cover all things that can happen to somebody, except for life threatening injuries.

Doctors Express is an alternative to the emergency room. Rick says when you come to a Doctors Express, you’re going to see a doctor every single time you come in; hopefully, within 15-20 minutes. You will have exceptional service in addition to seeing a doctor quickly and they focus on a high level of service for every patient that comes.

If you decide to go to a Doctors Express, you will need to bring your insurance card, a photo ID and you will be responsible for a co-pay (specialist co-pay),which can be paid by cash, check or credit

On average, a visit will cost anywhere between $20-$50.

There is going to be an Open House at Doctors Express on Saturday, September 25 from 10AM-2PM. Their normal hours will be: Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM; Saturday and Sunday 8AM-5PM.
