About Dr. George Vassos:

Dr. George Vassos was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. He graduated from Classical High School. In 1971 he graduated from the United States Navel Academy and was commissioned an officers in the United States Navy. After completing 5 years of honorable service, he went to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA and graduated with Honors and membership in the Dental Honor Society in 1980. He also was awarded the Excellence Award in Periodontics as the most promising dental school graduate in the field of Periodontology. He then completed a Periodontology Residency at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and West Roxbury, VA Hospital.

In 1982 he started his periodontal practice in the Greater Springfield, MA and Enfield, CT ares. In 1989 he completed a several year process of certification by the American Academy of Periodontology receiving the prestigious title of Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology. Only about 30% of all periodontists hae achieved this certification. Dr. Vassos is one of only a few Board Certified Periodontists in the Greater Springfield area. This is the highest level of academic and clinical achievement in the field of Periodontology.

Dr. Vassos has been a consultant at West Roxbury, VA Hospital, a clinical instructor at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, and has taught Periodontology to dental hygiene students at Springfield Technical Community College for over 20 years. He has also conducted numerous lectures and programs on Periodontics and Dental Implants to dental professionals.
