AMHERST, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - We're kicking off the show in the kitchen with a warming winter beverage that will help to improve digestion and increase circulation. Joining me to make masala chai is Brittany Wood Nickerson, community herbalist and owner of Thyme Herbal in Amherst.

Aid Digestion
Relaxing
Anti-bacterial
Masala Chai
WARMING WINTER HERBAL RECIPE
2 tsp. chopped fresh ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon chips
1 tsp. orange peel
10 black peppercorns
6 cardomom pods
3 cloves, 1 star anise pod
Combine herbs in a saucepan with 4 cups of water. Simmer on low for 20 minutes, strain and enjoy.
Options: sweeten with honey and milk to taste
