November 17th - January 2nd

About the Festival of Trees:

Myths and Magic: Festival of Trees 2012 at Berkshire Museum promises to be a wondrous world of enchantment with all of the galleries transformed into a fantasy land inhabited by ethereal creatures of legend and lore. This seven week spectacle will be viewed by approximately 18,000 visitors.

There are countless imaginative and innovative ways in which to take part in this exhibition of mythical and magical holiday trees. Participants are invited to create trees with a theme based on myth or magic, from the fairy tale characters of old to the other-worldly inhabitants of today’s pop culture. The possibilities for designing and decorating a holiday tree inspired by tales of wizards and sorcerers, unicorns and dragons are endless.

Imagine an excursion into Alice’s Wonderland of fantasy and fun or a “Disneyesque” land in which faeries and elves both help and hinder their human friends and foes. Travel to “Middle Earth” and embark upon an epic quest of danger and intrigue. Explore the classical traditions of Greek and Roman mythology, the legends of Norse Gods and Goddesses and the rich history of Native American lore. All of these might feed your imagination and inspire a holiday tree design that reveals the mysterious worlds of myth and magic.
