NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - Some people struggle their entire lives to be happy. Nerissa Nields-Duffy is a Certified Martha Beck Life Coach and explains how we all can be completely content with what we have.
As a certified Martha Beck life coach, Nerissa says she deals mostly with writers or around writing, but works with other people, too. She helps people find that inborn creativity and joy through writing, through talking, through working with their bodies.
Martha Beck was on the Oprah Winfrey show and is actually Oprah's life coach. She's does a column for her magazine and she’s written many books, including Expecting Adam, which is the story of a baby she had who has Downs Syndrome. By raising a boy with Downs Syndrome it changed her life from being somebody very much in her head like a triple Harvard Degree person, to somebody who really lives with her whole body and lives a life intuitively and full of joy and helping other people.
One of the ways people can be at ease with what they have is by practicing gratitude. That's the sure-fire way to be at ease, genuinely looking at what we have. At times it helps to look at what other people don't have and then say to yourself “Oh my God, I have so much”.
Unfortunately, we're a society that the more we have, the more we want and that is never going to change. We're never going to have everything we want. So, it is much more efficient to love what we have.
We need to change our perspectives, look at everything we have and be grateful and not always wish we had more.
