CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - It's probably much more of a guy thing, putting a can of beer in a chicken and cooking it. But the taste is something everybody can enjoy. Glenn Courtny of Red Neck Roasters shows you how to make it.

  • 3 - 3.5lb Whole Chicken
  • Olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Sea Salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp. Adobo
  • 1 Tsp. BBQ Seasoning
  • 1/2 Tsp. Chili Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp. Pepper Blend
  • 1 Can of Beer / Soda

-Preheat oven or grill to 350*F. Place beer can chicken cooking rack into disposable pie-plate. Place 1/2 full can of beer into cooking rack then place your thawed chicken over the can of beer, with the can of beer protruding into the open cavity of the chicken, arrange chicken legs to help keep chicken standing on end.

-In a small bowl combine sea salt, garlic powder, adobo, BBQ seasoning, chili powder and pepper blend. Mix until completely combined inot a dry rub.

-Apply a generous coat of olive oil to the outrer skin of the chicken and then apply dry rub to the entire outer skin of the chicken.

-Cook chicken in oven or on grill at 350*F for approximately 1 to 1.5 Hours or until internal temperature of chicken reaches 165*F in the Brest area or 185*F in the thigh area. Remove chicken let stand for approximately 5 min. Carve and enjoy.
