CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - We're celebrating Fat Tuesday on Mass Appeal. What goes better with a day dedicated to decadence than some signature cocktails? David Brogan is a master mixologist and he's here to show us that you don't have to head South to have a memorable Mardi Gras.
The Hurricane
1 oz Flora De Cana Grand Reserve Dark Rum
1 oz Flora De Cana White Rum
1 oz Fresh Orange Juice
2 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Passion Fruit Nectar
1/2 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1 tbsp. Grenadine
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Combine ingredients in a shaker over ice and shake well. Strain into a tall glass (Hurricane glass is preferable) filled half way with ice. Garnish with a Dress the Drink Pineapple Wedge soaked in orange and cherry.
On the Mark Sazerac
3 parts Maker's 46
¾ part simple syrup
Peychaud bitters to taste
Absinthe rinse
Lemon twiste
In a mixing glass add simple syrup, bitters and Maker's 46 with ice and stir and set aside. In a chilled rocks glass, add absinthe and rinse by swirling liquid and then dumping it out. Strain the Maker's 46, simple syrup and bitters into the rocks glass and and twist the lemon over the cocktail. Garnish with Dress The Drink Jeweled Gem stones in the colors of Mardi Gras (purple, gold and green) through out the cocktail.
