NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - Summer's ending but that doesn't mean you have to quit drinking lemonade! Sally Noble, the owner of the Foundry in Northampton showed us some new takes on this delicious drink.
Strawberry Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 3 quarts organic lemonade
- 8-10 strawberries
Directions:
- Pour lemonade into a resealable container
- Rinse and cut ripe strawberries into halves or quarters
- Place strawberries into lemonade. Close container and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, lemonade should be a bright orange-pink color on top. Give lemonade a stir and your strawberry lemonade is ready. If you choose, you can strain and discard strawberries or have them as a tasty sweet snack on the side.
- Serve and enjoy! You can garnish glasses with a fresh cut lemon slice for a nice summer touch.
Spicy Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 3 quarts organic lemonade
- Ripe jalapeño peppers
Directions:
- Pour lemonade into resealable container
- Cut ends off of a few of your jalapeños and test the spice by sniffing or tasting (if you dare). Some jalapeños (oddly enough) are not spicy at all. If you find a couple of really hot peppers, then 2 should be sufficient. You can also use 4-6 semi-spicy peppers for a similar level of spice.
- Cut your chosen peppers into about 6-8 slices and place into lemonade. Seal container, place in refrigerator and allow to marinate overnight.
- Next morning, open your container and give the lemonade a stir.
- Pour a little into a glass and test your lemonade.
- If it tastes sufficiently spicy, strain jalapeños (including the seeds) out of the lemonade so it doesn't continue to marinate. If your lemonade doesn't taste spicy enough, try adding a couple more sliced jalapeños and waiting a few hours to taste again. When it tastes to your liking, go ahead and strain peppers and seeds.
- Serve and enjoy!
