Thai Salad: Yum Nua

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (Mass Appeal) - Thai food can seem too complex to make at home, but in a few minutes, you could be cooking food from the far east right in your own kitchen.

Thongsoog Thatthong and Juthapathra Dechanupong from Siam Square Thai Restaurant in Northampton showed us how to make a Thai salad called Yum Nua.

Thai Salad: Yum Nua

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. top round beef
  • 1/4 cup sliced lemon grass
  • 1/2 cup sliced red onion
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 tbsp chili paste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Thai fish sauce
  • 1/2 cup mushroom
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1/2 cup scallion
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • Lettuce


Directions:

  1. Thinly sliced up beef
  2. Mix 2 tbsp. soy sauce with 1 tsp. of sugar and stir
  3. Mix sauce and beef
  4. Refrigerate for at least an hour
  5. Grill beef
  6. Combine ingredients
  7. Serve with lettuce or starch
  8. Enjoy!
