SPRINGFIELD,Mass.(WWLP) - Those super-sized sneakers you've seen all over Springfield now have new homes.

The 18 larger than life shoes were auctioned off in Tower Square Tuesday night.

Most of them were bought by local business owners, including MassMutual and F.L. Roberts.

Several people at the auction were local residents who say they just wanted to check out the display.

Joanne Spirito of Wilbraham told 22News, "I wanted to see all the sneakers before they were disbursed to all different locations, all in one venue. I tried to do it with a walking tour of Springfield, didn't get to do it."

Anna Mae Long of Springfield told 22News, "I was curious to see them all because I could only see them as I drove by. You don't get a good look at them and I wanted to see them upfront and close."

A total of $41,750 was earned at Tuesday night's auction.

All the proceeds go to the Art and Soles Fund which supports youth and adult artists in Springfield.
