SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Three weeks before the due date a baby boy was born in the parking lot at Mercy Medical Center.

Tracie MacKenzie began feeling labor pains around eleven Saturday night.  She called her husband, Dan, to come home from a fishing trip in the Eastern part of the state.

By the time they arrived at Mercy Medical Center's Family Life Center, the baby was half way out.

"I just remember getting on 291 and realizing I had a head coming out and I was like, oh, that's the head", said Tracie.

A nurse rushed out and delivered the baby in the MacKenzie's car at 1:55 Sunday morning.

Matthew Michael is a healthy little boy who gave his parents quite a big story to tell.
