Good Deal Auto is out of business

After multiple 22News I-Team investigations a Springfield used car dealer is now closed.

Since her story first aired, 22News reporter Jaclyn Cashman says she's received a dozen complaints against Good Deal Auto.

Since we first reported that the owner of Good Deal Auto was arrested for alleged bad business practices, the company has closed, but the cases against Jon Hastings have not.

Steve Clark said, "He deserves to be shut down with all the complaints he has got."

Steve Clark is one of about twenty unhappy Good Deal Auto customers. Over the last month, The 22News I-Team has introduced you to several people who say Jon Hastings sold them cars but never produced a title.

His lot is now empty and it appears Good Deal Auto won't be selling any more cars.

A quick check of the records here at small claims court in Springfield and the 22News I-Team found 11 entries against Good Deal Auto and Jon Hastings, six of them are pending.

And in District Court he has nine charges against him, including at least one accusing him of larceny.

Steve Clark said, "People buy cars from him and he refuses to give them titles and makes them wait. That is wrong. It is not good for a business person."

Shanice Morgan said "This is a legitimate business so you think this won't happen you know what I mean."

We tried to reach Jon Hastings but his cell phone was disconnected, but when we interviewed him about a month after his arrest he told the I-Team he's innocent.

Jon Hastings said, "I am not a criminal I am a family man with three kids." Jon Hastings next court date is April 28th.

Hastings' attorney Frank Buendo told us the district attorney is considering bringing the matter before a grand jury.
