SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Planning a mini-vacation this holiday weekend?
Well don't forget about your fido.
Make sure you protect your pets from heat stroke if they're outdoors for extended periods of time.
Provide shade and plenty of fresh water for them.
Also, keep barbecue skewers out of your pets reach.
Secure your garbage, so they don't end up eating leftovers. Remember some foods can upset their stomach.
And there are other warm weather risks.
“Taking them to the beach is not a great idea,” said Candy Lash, spokeswoman, Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society. “ If they've been trimmed, they're subject to sunburn and the sand can burn their paws.”
Candy Lash says sometimes it's better to leave them safe and
comfortable at home.
