(WWLP) - When's the last time you really looked at your phone bill?  If you don't you could be getting crammed and it could be costing you money.

Cramming is the placement of unauthorized charges on your phone bill.  According to Consumer Reports, bogus phone bill fees are costing consumers $2 Billion a year.

Here's some ways to protect yourself.

Block your accounts. Tell your wireless and landline carriers to block all third party charges to your account.

Look at your bills for small unauthorized charges, usually between $2 and $20.  If you find them, call your carrier and demand a refund.

If you shop or download apps on your phone pay with a credit card.

Don't give out your cell phone number to online contests, auctions, surveys or giveaways.
