CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Feeding a family can get costly with the price of food inflating over the years; 22News uncovers the tricks that will save you big on your next bill.

The price of food has jumped 8 percent over the past year according to the federal bureau of labor statistics.

Now more than ever Jenn Christensen is looking to cut costs,and she loves every minute of it.

She's got shopping down to an art. She feeds a family of five for $300 a month.

So what's her secret? Cutting coupons, every Sunday she scours the paper looking for sales.

When she finds them they go in her coupon book that goes with her everywhere.

She said the key to coupons is to know how to use them.

She also gave us the inside scoop about deals that have nothing to do with coupons.

Here are some tips: Put yourself on a budget, know what you will need, don't be afraid to pass up a sale item and avoid stores that don't allow double discounts
