SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Cats impacted by Hurricane Sandy are in Western Massachusetts, hoping you'll take them home.
Ten cats were sent to the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society from a shelter in Monmouth County, New Jersey, a community hit hard by the storm.
The cats will be up for adoption starting Tuesday.
Dakin's Candy Lash told 22News, they took the cats in to help our neighboring communities, like they did when we needed help.
"We're very happy to be able to return the favor to another area that's hard hit when folks stepped up and helped us when we had a tornado in 2011 so it's our pleasure to be able to do that and we're hoping our community will help in that effort as well," Lash said.
Lash said they have a lot of their own cats as well.
They're starting a "name your price" event for adult cats, 6 months or older.
