New legal drug not covered by law

(WWLP) - A new drug called K-2 is starting to make waves. It looks a lot like marjuana, and works like it too, only it's legal.

The drug was actually created in a chemistry lab at Clemson University.
Since it's synthetic it is not covered by law.

Kansas Congresswoman Peggy Mast wants to pass legislation to criminalize it next session. "My concern was that we don't know specifically where it's coming from, there's no quality control on this product. We don't know the dangers that  kids are taking by experimenting with it."
