Westover Airmen return from Iraq

Reservists say mission is rewarding

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Westover Air Reserve Base welcomed home some of their own.

On Friday afternoon, several Air Force reservists returned following a 150 day deployment in Balad, Iraq.  The airmen from the 439th Services Squadron were in charge of lodging, physical fitness and feeding for 30,000 troops.

The service members, who are from Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island, deployed to Joint Base Balad, the largest American installation in Iraq.  They comprise more than 120 reservists from Westover's 439th Airlift Wing who deployed int the fall of 2008.

They airmen say the experience has made them feel positive about America's mission in Iraq.
