LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - A Lowell man has pleaded not guilty to punching his 3-month-old
son in the head.
Police said 29-year-old Miguel Diaz hit his son several times
Tuesday because the baby was crying while Diaz was trying to sleep.
Diaz is charged with assault and battery on a child causing serious
bodily injury.
Diaz was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail during his
arraignment Wednesday in Lowell District Court. A judge also
ordered him to have no contact with his son.
The child was in Boston Children's Hospital with serious
injuries and is expected to survive.
Diaz's attorney, Joanne Walsh, did not immediately return a
call seeking comment.
