WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBCNC) - Vice President Biden promised quick work by his taskforce by calling gun control advocates to the White House.
"And the President and I are determined to take action," said Biden.
"We are not going to get caught up in the notion unless we can do everything, we're going to do nothing," said Biden.
Meeting participants were encouraged.
"We're better than a nation with thirty-two murders every day, with shootings in movie theaters and schools and places of worship," said Dan Gross, President, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
Almost a month after the Newtown massacre where 20 children were killed, gun right advocates are pushing back and arguing that teachers should be armed.
"The bad guys, they're chicken. They're not going to go into a room with people full of guns," said Jeremy Alcede of Tactical Firearms in Katy, TX.
Opposing new efforts to ban assault weapons and high capacity clips, gun owners will rally in Washington.
"You cannot infringe upon people's right to bear arms in this country," said Larry Ward, Gun Appreciation Day Chairman.
It seems clean that gun control alone cannot win; the issue is bigger.
"If we don't deal with the substance abuse and mental health issues that lead to violence we're short changing this conversation," said Gov. Chris Christie (R) New Jersey
Vice President Biden agrees.
"But the President is going to act. There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken. We haven't decided what that is yet," said Biden.
Tomorrow, Biden meets, as promised, with the NRA.
