CT Republican Senate candidates to debate for first time in Hartford

McMahon, Shays, Hill, Lumaj, Westby to participate

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut's Republican candidates for the U.S. Senate will debate for the first time in the run-up to the 2012 election.

Republican candidates, including 2010 Senate nominee Linda McMahon , former U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays and attorneys Brian K. Hill, Peter Lumaj and Kie Westby will participate in tonight's debate. It's hosted by the Norwich Bulletin and will be held at Kelly Middle School in Norwich.

The candidates are running to replace the retiring Senator Joe Lieberman , an independent.

The 7 p.m. debate will be moderated by Ray Hackett, the Norwich Bulletin's editorial page editor.

It will be free and open to the public. Questions will not be taken from the audience.
