HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut's state medical examining board has suspended the license of a doctor charge with raping a patient at his East Hartford clinic.
The Hartford Courant reports the board acted Friday after reviewing the criminal case against Dr. Edwin Njoku. A second hearing is planned Feb. 17. The state health department said neither it nor the board is commenting on the merits of the case.
Njoku is held on $825,000 bail on several charges including first-degree sexual assault.
The most serious charge involves a woman's complaint that Njoku raped her Oct. 22 in an examining room at the Christus Medical Group.
The Courant reports court documents show one of the lesser sexual assault charges against him involves another alleged victim. His lawyer says Njoku is fighting the allegations.
