Students rally for medicinal marijuana

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - College students and other activists have postponed their rally calling for marijuana reform at the Connecticut state Capitol.

University of Connecticut's chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy says they will call on legislators Thursday to further reform marijuana policy and pass medical marijuana legislation during the new session.

Former chapter President Samuel Tracy says the rally was moved from opening day of the legislative session to Thursday after organizers decided the new date would be more effective.

Last summer legislators voted to decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana. In 2007 a medical marijuana bill was vetoed by then-Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
