NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A former Connecticut prison inmate has started a nondenominational, spiritual program for ex-inmates to help them find jobs and return to society.
Paul Colwell says his program, called Work & Learn, is not sponsored by the state Department of Correction and is unlike other transitional services in that it combines job assistance with helping former inmates find spiritually.
The program is aligned with churches and businesses and is nondenominational and volunteer-based.
They get together weekly for 12 weeks in a meeting room at the Huntington Street Baptist Church in New London.
The goal is for them to graduate with some life skills and some career skills.
