HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut residents have one month left to register to vote if they want to participate in the Aug. 14 primary.
Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says the last day to register in person at a local office is Monday, Aug. 13, at noon. To register to vote by mail, voter registration cards must be received by the local registrar of voters by Aug. 9.
Merrill reports that the number of new voters who've registered since Jan. 1 is 45,191. That brings the total number of registered voters in Connecticut to 1.9 million.
The number of new voters trails the number over the same time period in 2008, the last presidential election year. By July 20, 2008, more than 100,000 new voters had registered since January of that year.
