Connecticut National Guard welcome-home ceremony

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A formal welcome-home ceremony is being held in Hartford for three units of the Connecticut National Guard units that served in Afghanistan and the Arabian Gulf.

The event is set for Friday afternoon at the William A. O'Neill Armory.

The units being honored air the Air National Guard 103rd Air Control Squadron of Orange, which supported air defenses in the Arabian Gulf; the Army National Guard 142nd Area Support Medical Company of Naugatuck, which served in Afghanistan; and the 246th Fire Fighting Detachment of East Lyme, which was assigned to a base in Afghanistan.

There are nearly 600 troops from the Connecticut National Guard currently deployed to Southwest Asia.
