HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - State officials are creating a new task force to study the effects of weather and erosion on the Connecticut shoreline and its communities.
The bi-partisan task force, announced Monday, will be chaired by East Haven Democratic Rep. James Albis, and include representatives and senators from coastal towns. Officials say it's likely the task force also will include climate and land use experts. The group will be responsible for making recommendations to the state legislature in December, addressing issues faced by shoreline communities.
A member of the task force, North Haven Republican Sen. Leonard Fasano, says he supports the group's long-term goals, but more needs to be done immediately to help shoreline communities.
