NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WWLP) - Amtrak is back on track, but with significant delays after a derailed freight train snarled service.

This train derailment in New Haven, Connecticut, stopped "acela" and northeast regional service on the northeast corridor on Sunday.

The freight cars were empty, but it took a while to clear the mess.

The derailment affected service between New York and Boston.

Trains are running, but again, with delays.

Service should be pretty close to or "on" schedule Monday morning.

Some tickets booked online that have not yet been printed can be modified or canceled on Amtrak.com or by using the free Amtrak mobile app.
