Explosives, fireworks found in bust

WATERBURY, Conn. (WWLP) - Two people were arrested after police found a large amount of fireworks and explosives inside a building in Waterbury.

On July 2, officers from State Police and the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit arrived at a business at 263 Perkins Avenue and found a large amount of explosives and illegal fireworks.

Karen Lavallee, 47, and Thomas Cianciola, 44, were both arrested and charged with illegal possession of explosives and illegal possession of fireworks.

Police also searched a storage contained in the rear of Brass City Hyundai on Watertown Avenue where they found more explosives and commercial fireworks.

Police say the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
