Gunman identified as Adam Lanza, 20

NEWTOWN, Conn. (WWLP) - We now have a picture of 20-year-old Adam Lanza.

Lanza reportedly killed his mother Nancy Lanza in her home, then drove her car  to the school where she taught, carrying three guns, including a high-powered rifle that he apparently left in the rear seat.

The motive for the deadly shooting at the elementary school remains a mystery today.

Adam Lanza reportedly took the family car to the school.

It was first reported that Nancy Lanza was a teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary, but now the Associated Press is reporting the mother was a substitute teacher there although her name did not appear on a staff list.

Now investigators are trying to establish a connection between the family and the school.

Police say lanza was carrying two handguns when he carried out the attack.

After the shooting, Lanza turned the gun on himself bringing the death toll to 28.
