STORRS, Conn. (WTNH) - CL&P crews were called to the University of Connecticut when a large section of the school's Storrs campus lost power.
School officials say a transformer blew and a power line came down in the area of Lake Side Apartments on campus around 9:45 a.m.
"Power is out to most buildings along Route 195 and North Eagleville Rd., as well as central areas of campus," says a statement on the school's website.
The school says it could take 4-6 hours for power to be restored.
Students are being told to check with their professors to see their classes are affected by this outage.
