HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Hartford man has been charged with attempted murder and assault after police say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend and two other people during an early morning dispute.

Police say they arrested 26-year-old Fred Colby early Saturday morning when they found him covered in blood at his home after he allegedly fled the scene of the stabbings on Sherbrooke Avenue.

Authorities say Colby stabbed his ex-girlfriend several times with a curved knife, and then stabbed two other people who tried to help the woman. The three victims are being treated at a hospital. Their names and conditions haven't been released.

Colby is being held on $1 million bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
