NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - A New London man charged with murdering two women in the 1990s has been convicted in one of the killings, but the jury failed to reach a verdict in the other case.
A jury in New London Superior Court convicted 42-year-old Dickie Anderson Jr. on Wednesday of murdering 41-year-old Renee Pellegrino in her hometown of Waterford in 1997. But jurors couldn't reach a unanimous verdict in the killing of 29-year-old Michelle Comeau of Norwich in 1998, and the judge declared a mistrial.
Prosecutors are deciding whether to pursue a second trial in Comeau's case.
Andersonis scheduled to be sentenced to up to 60 years in prison on June 1 for killing Pellegrino.
Police say both women were strangled. Anderson was arrested in a police cold case investigation in 2010.
