NEWTOWN, Conn. (WWLP) - Most Newtown, Connecticut students went back to school today, but some elementary school students had to stay home after police placed Head O'Meadow School in lockdown.

Police said it was a standard procedure following an undisclosed threat.

They did not release any other details about the threat.

For many residents though, the focus right now is to pray for the families directly affected and to try to find a way to move on.

Norma Boudreau of Newtown, CT told 22News “It's too heart-wrenching to know that somebody went out and killed little children... for what reason? I mean I've seen some of those little kids running around in different places in stores and everything. I recognize some of them, you know.”

Sandy Hook School is closed indefinitely. The students will attend a different school in the nearby town of Monroe.
