NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) -

New Britain police say they have a video that supports an 11-year-old girl's allegation that a man in a minivan attempted to abduct her.

New Britain Mayor Timothy O'Brien Jr. and Police Chief James Wardwell scheduled a news conference for Thursday morning to release the video and discuss the investigation.

The girl told police she was walking to a summer camp last Friday when an older man on Highland Terrace approached her in the minivan and attempted to grab her. The girl ran home and told her mother.

Police say a resident with surveillance cameras recorded the incident. Police say they hope someone will recognize the van or the driver and help them identify him.
