CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) - Utility crews are working to restore electricity to hundreds of homes still without power after a storms rattled the state Wednesday.
As of 5:30 a.m. more than 1,100 Connecticut Light & Power customers did not have electricity.
The storm knocked down trees and closed roads in many towns. In Cromwell, where 60% of the town did not have electricity last evening, fewer than 300 were without power this morning. A section of Main Street that was closed because of storm damage was reopened early Thursday.
Danbury was another area hit hard by yesterday's storms. Powerful winds knocked over several trees, causing them to fall on houses and roadways throughout the city.
Some scattered downpours were in the morning forecast, but otherwise "it's going to be a lot cooler today," Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said.
